This is a very rare and authentic Obidome and Obijime wedding set from our family collection. It is from a wedding in 1950s in Tokyo.
They almost never come together in the original set.

The brooch/clip Obidome is marked 14k WG and contains the traditional 6 white pearls. They are Akoya pearls approx 7mm-7.5mm in great condition. The Obidome total weight is 9 grams.

The gold & red tinted Objimi silk cord was used to hold the wide kimono belt in place. It is handmade and shows signs of age. It is very unusual to see the original pair together. It is 40 inches in length. The pearl clip holds the cord together and the cord holds the wide Kimono belt in place. Fitting a wedding Kimono is an elaborate ritual and the materials are always of the highest quality.

The set comes in a beautiful felt case, marked Mikimoto and Mitsukoshi Dept Store. The Obidome is NOT marked Mikimoto, so we assume the store provided the case as a wedding gift. A common practice in Japan many years ago.
However the Obidome & Obijime are both top notch quality,
