This sugar bowl was created by ceramic artist Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden in the 1950's as part of the 'Gratina' oven to tableware series..
The ceramic bowl has a rich burgundy glaze with a pale duck egg blue interior. The innovative square shape and vibrant colour epitomised the 'new' modern Swedish style of oven to tableware dishes.
Lovely vintage item...
As the years pass, these lovely china items become more precious... pieces are damaged, lost or collections are broken up. The good news for collectors is that quality pieces should not only hold their value but increase over time.
Condition:
In generally good vintage condition commensurate for age. Does have some discolouration, mainly to the rim and the underside (see photos) May have occasional teeny mark... lovely vibrant rich burgundy colour. No chips, crazing or fractures.

Gunnar Nylund was a Swedish ceramic designer since the 1930s, best known as the artistic director of Rörstrand. He was already a well-established ceramic artist in Denmark at the Bing & Grøndahl Porcelain factory in Copenhagen 1925–28. Gunnar Nylund made his most important artistic contributions while at Rörstrand. He was employed there throughout the greater part of the early 1930s until the mid-1950s.
