Villeroy & Boch Acapulco Bowl

This soup/cereal bowl was first produced by European porcelain company Villeroy & Boch c1960's and was finally discontinued in 1994.
These bowls are mixed editions, some with the earlier blue 60's backstamp others with the later 80's brown stamp.

The bowl is a round shape and decorated with the Acapulco pattern.

This colourful and now iconic design was created by Christiane Reuter – said to be inspired by folk art paintings she saw on a visit to Mexico.

With bright and colourful bird/flower motifs around the bowl, this vivid pattern has endured and is still immensley popular. The contemporary form is from the 'Milano' series of shapes designed by Ludwig Scherer and used with several other popular Villeroy Boch designs in this era – such as Cadiz, Izmir and Granada amongst others.
 
As the years pass, these lovely china items become more precious... pieces are damaged, lost or collections are broken up.  The good news for collectors is that quality pieces should not only hold their value but increase over time.

The bowls are in generally very good vintage condition commensurate for age and use.  No chips, fractures, crazing or discolouration.  Occasional rub/scratch mark/teeny wear spot to the pattern surface... see photos please.   Colour and pattern all excellent...  Ready to use...

    Christiane Reuter joined Villeroy Boch in the 1960s as their chief designer and continued there for decades.
