This oil painting medium is cold-pressed walnut oil that has been properly filtered and refined for artist usage. I use this exact walnut oil for all of my blue and white handmade oil colors and I also use it as a painting medium for when I paint.
Walnut oil tends to yellow less than linseed oil and provides a more "slippery" feel to the paint. Walnut oil also tends to dry slower than linseed oil. Walnut Oil is the 2nd most useful oil for oil painting after linseed oil. While poppy and safflower oil may yellow the least, they are also more liable to form less stable paint films and they dry incredibly slow without added driers. For these reasons I recommend walnut oil as a pale alternative to linseed oil when such is desired.
Use this linseed oil for the following purposes:
1. Make your own paint by mixing it with pigments.
2. Mix it with tubed paints to improve flow of the paint or extend drying time. It can also be applied to sunken sections of a painting to bring the sheen back to life.
3. Mix it with other additives to make your own paint medium.
