Absolutely gorgeous early 1970s Wilson and Sons grand concert OM-sized acoustic from Japan. Interestingly, labelled as just “Wilson” inside. A rather under-the-radar brand, but associated with Hiroshi Yairi, son of Sadao and cousin to Kazuo of the famous luthier family. Most of these in the USA seem to be classicals, but a few steel strings are around. This one was probably not made be Hiroshi himself, because research suggests a signature or maker’s mark would be found on the label or on a brace. This instrument, however, would still have been made in the same shop by acolyte luthiers. Spruce and mahogany in all laminates, as would indicate for export rather than domestic market. (Laminates don’t crack.) Very nicely made, and looks, plays, and sounds absolutely wonderful. Excellent condition, with only the lightest player wear, and a few inconsequential dings and scratches. Nice player, with 12th fret action between 5/64 and 3/32”. Fantastic tone, with deep aggressive bass and woody midrange. On a par with the best of e.g. red-label Yahamas. In other words… niiiiiiiiiiice. Soft shell case (non-original) is also in excellent condition.

NOTE: USA regulations under the CITES convention (trade in endangered species) have finally been loosened to allow easy international shipping of vintage instruments, unless they contain BRAZILIAN r******d (Dahlbergia nigra). Unfortunately, I am not certain of the composition of the fretboard (could be Brazilian), so this guitar still cannot be shipped internationally.

UPDATE: Ebay now demands that we sellers give THIRTY DAYS for returns. Any honest buyer will know within a few days whether there is any need for a return. I no longer take returns through Ebay, but I will never "stick" another musician with a guitar. Please contact me if there any problems, and we'll work it out.
