This is a listing for my very special badge/emblem - markings as follows:

- PORSCHE 956

- Rennsport Automobil Des Jahres 1982

- Porsche Entwicklung Weissach

- XII. IVV-Wandertage 1983

- TSV Weissach 07

- Is that the Swiss flag 🇨🇭or something else in this instance?

Nothing on reverse.

It has a little bit of weight to it and appears to have been beautifully made - it comes with a green display box (I bought this many years ago from Auto Antiques at an event at Goodwood). The display box has some external marks and scratches from storage.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE OF THESE (rare Porsche 956 automobilia - Le Mans) - highly collectible and would look great as a display item on a desk or in a glass cabinet, for example (I’m not sure if this was originally intended to have been used as a grill badge - it doesn’t look like it’s ever been used for that purpose and it doesn’t have screw holes either side either).

As far as condition is concerned, this item would have been made in the early 1980s, so it’s around 40 years old. Some of the ‘bronze’ paint covering for the upper part (that the chain hangs from) is coming off (the paint is coming off on both sides of that part of the item - as per photos). The badge itself does have some marks/small dents but I don’t know if that is as intended by the manufacturing process?

In some ways, a very odd item - and that’s what I believe makes it so collectable and valuable.
