Complete two volume set. Full calf leather bindings. Spines with five raised bands, red morocco title labels, green morocco volume labels. Excellent solid bindings with no cracking to joints. Very clean text throughout. Complete with the engraved frontis (with a small hole), fold-out map and 12 further plates. Volume two has slight worming to the final blanks. A few small worm holes to outer margin from p307 to the end of the book, and horizontal worm tracks to 24 leaves, text is affected on 16 leaves (mostly in the index). Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown endpaper in both volumes. The first major work on ancient Greece aimed at the general public. Originally issued in 1707 (Volume I) and 1739 (Volume II) it remained the standard work until the end of the 18th century. A very nice example. ESTC: T121662. Overall Condition is Very Good
