About the Author

Lu Simian (1884-1957) was sincere. Born in Changzhou, Jiangsu. When he was young, his family was poor and he could not recruit a teacher, so his parents taught him historical works. At the age of 16, he taught himself ancient history books. Since 1905, he has taught at Suzhou Soochow University, Jiangsu Provincial Normal College and other schools. Since 1926, he has served as professor and head of the Department of Chinese Literature and History at Shanghai Guanghua University. After 1949, he served as professor of the History Department of East China Normal University. Mr. Lu Simian is a famous historian in modern my country, with profound knowledge and high academic attainments. He has made unique contributions in the fields of general history, chronological history and various special histories of China, leaving a valuable wealth for future generations to study and research.
