Okapi Unique Historical Lockback Knife

Own a little piece of history!!!

This knife is a unique but simple design, that has been around for hundreds of years!!!

( Design Is From Europe and Colonial America in the 1600 and 1700's )

Knives of this type were made by hand in the blacksmith shops of Europe and Colonial America in the 1600 and 1700's.  As the industrial revolution changed the way that goods were made, the traditional designs of the blacksmiths were copied.

Okapi Knives - which is a registered trade mark - have been manufactured knives in Solingen, Germany from the 1800's   In 1983 the manufacturing was moves South Africa, and the knives are still made to the same specifications and standards of quality under German Management.

Okapi knives are quality reproductions of the knives carried by explorers, settlers, soldiers, and mountain men....  When America was young!!!

This knife is a unique but simple design, that has been around for hundreds of years.  The blades are 1055 high carbon steel, tempered for easy sharpening and good edge retention (about a HRC of 54). The flat spring mounted to the surface of the knife is a style that goes back many hundreds of years, and works really well. The blade of the lockback locks solidly, and is released by pulling up on the ring

The inlaid design on the handle is patterned after the moon and star filled skies of South Africa.
