Uniformes Les Armees d L'Histoire French Magazine Military Uniform History Vtg

--- 71 items in this lot (there is a magazine of different title included in that count as well as the 2 square bound special issues).

--- FRENCH LANGUAGE magazine of military uniform history, although most of the issues do include a page of english translation for some of the contents, more on that below.

--- The 3 earlier issues are all in black and white but starting with issue #31 there is also color, but still mostly black and white (color centerfold as well as a few other color pages).

--- Target audience includes military history buffs including articles on painting miniature figures (not sure how much was geared towards that but it appears often enough), seems to be a well researched publication with diagrams and photos of uniform details including personal field gear and regalia etc.

--- I checked the page numbering on each issue to verify that nothing had been removed from the centerfold area (5 issues have a french language index which appears to list time period and nationality and in what issues/pages that subject is located, 2 of those indexes were removed from the centerfold but are included, finding those two removed indexes prompted me to go back and verify the page numbering on the centerfold as the indexes have page numbers).

--- As noted many issues have an English language translation page (I DON'T think those translations could be of the entire text of the magazine as they are only 4 pages of text), however the translation pages seem to have stopped in the later issues, one of those again had it as a colored paper insert, perhaps they started including them as inserts and were later lost by the original owner (the translation page in most issues is bound in the magazine on a colored newsprint as the first page you see and as the last page), BUT AGAIN NOTE I assume this is an english translation of selected articles and NOT the entire magazine (basically just 2 double sided sheets) I'm not sure what was necessarily chosen for translation (but certainly the vast majority of the magazine is French Language, or that's how I see it).  NOTED that in some of the earlier issues starting at #31 (there is no translations for the #16, #17, #18 issues) the translation pages appear to have been included as a photocopied inserts (2 one sided pages stapled and folded then tucked loose in the magazine), and NOTE that the translation insert/pages are missing in #33, #72, #80, #83, #90-#93 NOTE that the translation pages do not have regular magazine page numbering, if they did I would be able to determine if they had been removed etc (some of the issues in #31-#39 actually had the translation pages bound in the magazine like in later issues, maybe they started including that translation during that time period or based on buyer location). Noted issues #71, #87 had the translation page bound in a different location and

--- Covers show rubbing and wear, the cover stock is in general not glossy so tend to pick up rubbing wear from other issues as well as from handling etc (more rubbing type wear on older issues, many issues as the run progresses look and feel unread).

--- No signs of mildew or that they were owned by a smoker

--- There is also expected staple rust.

--- I did go through each issue to not only confirm that all of the color centerfolds are present but to be sure nothing has been cut out or written on (and again, issues 16-18 are all black and white).

--- Some corner wear, minor corner tip curls from storage or corner creases (not on all, just some of the condition issues noted), some corner bumps (making small creases etc)

--- Issues starting at #31 appear to be 42 pages and in later issues the page number goes up a little.  The two special issues No. 3 and No. 5 are square bound, each 70+ pages, not sure if they are reprints or collected themes, these have no english translations.

--- As noted above 5 issues have an index that appears to cover past articles, the index is sometimes by year or conflict or nationality etc, but points to the issue and pages etc.

--- I've tried to be thorough in my evaluation, I may have overlooked something but did put in quite a bit of time on this magazine lot (I'm tempted to add it to my personal library).

NOTE Issue #73 has some water damage, lower area of magazine, mainly some wavy or wrinkling in those areas as well as light staining, but without stuck pages etc.

NOTE Issue #47 has a facing tear near the bottom staple on the front cover.
