For sale here is a very cool and very original South Vietnamese Armored School M1 Helmet With Liner.  The shell is actually a Front Seam Stainless Rim Swivel Bale shell with original sewn chin straps with raised bar brass buckle and brass J Hook.  The shell has been stripped of original finish.  No texture remains.  It has been painted a brownish green gloss color.  This paint shows use, age, wear, some finish loss, signs of stacking, and some rust to the wearer's left side.  The front of the shell has an extremely well painted yellow, blue, and red shield with a black tank in the center with lightning bolts extending out in three directions.  As you can see, this paint shows age crazing and cracking along with period wear.  The inside of the shell does not appear to have been refinished.  There is a name written inside of the shell in pencil that is hard to make out, but might be Heineke.  The shell has a heat stamp of 987H.  The liner is also of WW2 vintage.  It is marked D23 over the Westinghouse maker stamp in the dome.  The liner features khaki webbing with a very nice khaki supple WW2 leather sweatband, and a khaki WW2 nape strap.  The words DEMO ??? are handwritten.  The number 8311 is handwritten on the nape strap.  The exterior of the liner is painted in a gross green color over top of the original finish.  I am not sure what the state of the original paint is, but the gloss paint shows use, age, wear, and some chipping.  Overall, this is a great looking and hard to find ORIGINAL ARVN PAINTED Armored School Helmet that will make an amazing addition to any collection!
