Hard to find, 1950's vintage, 15" tall, wood and composition, string puppet (marionette)
(designed by Ray Copelan for Bob Smith) is ready for you enjoy. "HOWDY DOODY", string marionette from the early 1950s, a childhood favorite and just as you remember him from one of the most popular children's television classic shows of all time, (airing from 1949-1954) starring him with
"Clarabell the Clown", Princess Summer-Fall, Winter-Spring and
his puppet friends in a frontier/western theme. He has painted red hair, moving       eyesmoving jaw with happy, grinning mouth and blushed cheeks. Produced by Peter Puppet Playthings, USA, circa 1952, as mfg. item #362 (signed at base of his neck). He wears his two piece-original, tan flannel,Shown on page 339, "Collector's Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls", Vol. II-Mertz.  He has a two-part wooden body, composition head, hands and feet and cloth arms and is fully signed on the back of his neck: PPP cprt. He has his original strings still attached to the original control board* and is in excellent condition, (no wear or missing paint, no cracks, no repairs or repaint) and no odors, from a smoke free home) especially considering how much attention these toys were given. Give him a place to "hang out" near your desk or around your home. He'll always bring a smile to your face! Bring back the "good old days"! His illustrated box is included but shows considerable wear and some taped repairs.
