Original full program booklet of the sixth edition of the Berliner Jazztage, that were held from 6-9 November 1969 in Berlin, Germany. Curated by German jazz pope Joachim-Ernst Berendt, the four-day festival presented an incredible line-up of jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Stan Kenton, Lennie Tristano, Cecil Taylor, Joachim Kühn, Dave Pike, Volker Kriegel, John Surman, Wolfgang Dauner, Eberhard Weber, Jean-Luc Ponty, John Tchicai, Sarah Vaughan, Lionel Hampton and of course Duke Ellington, who was the central theme of the festival because he celebrated his 70th birthday that year.
The very extensive program features essays, biographical texts (both in German and English language) and black & white photographs of the artists. Design: Günther Kieser.
