NM-MT (Near Mint-Mint): Sharp corners with possible slight fraying on one or two corners, minor print imperfection, slight wax stain on reverse is OK. Centering 70/30 or better on the front.

NM (Near Mint): Sharp corners, but slight fraying on some of the corners with possible slight surface wear. Most original gloss is still there. Picture might be slightly out of register and minor printing blemish is OK. Wax staining on the front is OK and slight wax stain on the back is OK. Centering is 75/25 or better on the front.

EX-MT (Excellent-Mint): Corners slightly more worn than a NM card. Possible surface wear that doesn’t detract the eye appeal. Possible to have focus slightly off, wax on the front and back, slightly off white borders. Still a pretty sharp card. Centering is 80/20 or better on the front.

EX (Excellent): A mid grade card. Has corner wear, but corners aren’t rounded. May have surface wear or printing defects, a little loss of gloss, possible light scratches or wax stains. NO CREASES are allowed on cards graded EX or higher. Centering is 85/15 or better on the front.

VG-EX (Very Good-Excellent): May have slightly rounded corners, edge wear, more loss of gloss, light scuffing or scratches, slightly discolored borders, wax stains. May have a light crease. Centering is 90/10 or better on the front.

VG (Very Good): Corners may be more rounded, with surface wear, light scuffing or scratches, edge wear, more discolored borders, and wax or gum stains. May have creases but not detract too badly from the overall eye appeal. Centering is 95/5 or better on the front.

GOOD: A well worn card, but not totally abused. Has the issues of a VG card, but more of them with more severity with more major creasing. May be miscut. Has no writing but could have a glue mark. Anything we grade GOOD or better should be free of writing.

POOR: Just to say you have the card. A poor card may be missing pieces, exhibit major creasing, extreme discoloration and/or dirtiness, have writing or marks, possible warping and may be miscut. It’s also possible particularly if the card looks much nicer than the grade, that it is too short, recolored, or has other issues that would stop it from receiving a numerical grade from some grading companies.
