Rarely found in never bound original subscription
format. A fine collection of fine
steel-plate classic engravings. This lot
consists of steel engravings printed on fine Imperial Quarto paper, with
accompanying letter-press descriptive of each picture. Set was issued by subscription for .50 per
part, with three engravings per part, for a total of 40 parts and 120
engravings. The set was designed to be
bound into 2 volumes once complete.
This lot includes 29 engravings and descriptives and 15
original folders as follows:
Rosin – type paper folder covers - Part I, IX, XI, XII,
XVIII, XIX, XX, XXI, XXII, XXIII, XXIX, XXX, XXXI, XXXIV, XL and 14 backs. Folders are separated at the middle.
Also includes the title and index pages for the two volumes,
and the engravings as follows:

Most engravings are in very good condition. A few have minor dampstaining at the edges. Overall, a very attractive and rare
