2¢ black (Scott 73), and irregular block of six of 3c 1861 (Scott 65), affixed over a printed life insurance company corner card in blue and tied by large grids and block with bold "Burlington VT Mar. 6" duplex cancel, manuscript "Paid 20c" at top right, light "St. John's C.E. MR 7 67" circular datestamp at bottom, on cover to Brome Corner (Quebec) Canada (East), next day receiving backstamp, vertical crease and edge faults

As noted on the reverse, this is an odd combination to pay the double cross-border rate. Other notes on the back are that it appeared in a Herman "Pat" Herst auction in June 1944 and then in a 1972 Al Zimmerman auction.

A google search for Reid D. Paige showed he was an attorney in Burlington VT. It is likely he sent this to his wife while she was visiting family in nearby (70 miles away) Brome Canada.
