This portfolio is a quintessential look into the photography movement in Los Angeles in the late 1970s. As a private dealer specializing in 1960-70s photography and who is originally from Los Angeles, I can attest that the artist’s roster represents the most influential and key photographers of this foundation-breaking period in the history of photography.

Many photographers used experimental processes & methods in this project. For instance, Robbert Flick intentionally cut a diagonal triangle into the gelatin silver print, Judith Golden hand-painted her gelatin silver print with oils (as is typical of her famed People Magazine series), Sheila Pinkel photographed crumpled paper with strings and then intentionally crumpled the photographic paper to mirror her concept and Robert Heinecken, the father of breaking photographic barriers, mounted a Polaroid to his lithograph.
