TWO EDWARDIAN GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS COMPANY LTD, REGENT STREET, LONDON HALLMARKED SILVER SERVING STYLE SPOONS IN FITTED CASE

WITH CADUCEUS STYLE FINIALS

These spoons measure around 20.7cm / 8 3/16" long (approx) and have a total / combined weight of around 132g (approx).  The bowls measure 6.6cm / 2 5/8" in direction of handle and 5.5cm / 2 3/16" wide (approx - measurement taken across the bowl of the spoon). They are stamped on the back with the maker's / sponsor's mark of ' G&S CO. LTD. ' (similar marks relate to Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd ) ), a lion passant, a leopard's head (London) and a lower case 'n' (c1908). The bowls of the spoons and the finials have a slight gilt tone to them, but this appears to have faded somewhat with age / use.  They are each decorated with a Caduceus style finial.

Condition: These spoons are in antique / used condition with wear / rubbing (including to the hallmarks on the back), knocks, stubborn marks, discolouration and scratches, commensurate with age related use. The case is in a slightly distressed state, with some significant wear, splits, surface covering loss in places, scratches, scuffs and marks. The spoons would probably benefit from appropriate cleaning, but I will leave that decision to their new owner.  I have taken a number of photos which, in addition to forming part of the description, are there to allow potential bidders the opportunity to make their own assessment.

I do try to recycle boxes and other materials wherever possible and will sometimes use newspaper for padding out, if it does not have any impact on the cost of postage.
