large-format map of the public surveys in Missouri showing railroad
land grants and other features,
published by the Land Office Commissioner in 1865.
- Colored bands show the
6-mile and 15-mile limits along the rights of way for land-grant
railroads: Hannibal & St. Joseph; Southern Pacific;
and Cairo & Fulton.
- The map shows township and range lines and locates the
active and former
land offices, as well as existing railroads, including the Pacific
Railroad (of Missouri).
- Among the named cities and features are Springfield, St.
Louis, Clinton, Palmyra,
Ste. Genevieve, Jefferson City, Meramec River, Calhoun, Plattsburg,
Jackson, and Grand River.
- It also shows the boundary lines between Missouri and
neighboring states and
territories, and it locates White Hair's Village in the Osage Indian
Reservation, beyond Missouri's western border.
- The image area measures a
generous 45.7 x 55.4 cm [18" x 21¾"].
- It is an original, antique map, not
a
reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be
genuine. It was lithographed by Bowen & Company, Philadelphia,
and published in the Annual
Report by the Commissioner
of the General Land Office to the 1st Session of the 39th Congress,
Washington, D.C.

- Condition: There's a stain affecting two folds at
the left edge, and a few of the other
folds have weakened and are reinforced on the reverse side by archival
tape. Although originally issued as a folding map, it has been stored
flat for many years, and
we will ship it to you carefully rolled in a sturdy tube. It is blank
on the back, with no printing on the
