Fine large example with broad leaf shaped blade and conical socket extending as a central rib. The socket with a side barb. Arrowheads of this form originated with the Scythians who occupied the Pontic Steppe, today, southern Ukraine and east. The form was embraced by the Greeks, and gained popularity and with minor variations, is found throughout Europe and the Balkans. This example accords with European Arrowheads and Crossbow Bolts, Rau, p.66 identified as Iberian (Spain, Portugal). It is about 1 ½” length with the side barb below the point which is a defining characteristic. It has been Professionally refurbished with 24karat gold overlay and mounted black polished leather neck cord for everyday wear. Gift boxed with certification of authenticity.
