Silvered bronze axe, about 1 1/8” height, of iconic Viking battle axe form with circular socket. Bearded bit decorated with concentric circle motifs to the front. These votive axes are found in the Baltic hinterlands and were used sacrificially, probably at funerals of warriors. This example has been professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored. It is suspended from an 18” Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. It is jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
