The basis for the publication was the symposium "Die Wohnung unserer Zeit--Möbelentwürfe und Innenraumkonzepte von Ludwig Mie van der Rohe" (The Dwelling in our Time--Furniture Designs and Interior Concepts by Mies van der Rohe) held from March 16-18, 2007. Based on the most recent scholarship and taking new material into consideration, this publication devotes itself to Mies’ interiors and furniture. There are essays on the different production runs of the MR10 and 20 from Bamberg through to Thonet taking in a host of other manufacturers. Plus, a history of the knoll models of the Barcelona chair and changes in design. Invaluable to collectors and dealers with good photographic plates. Also includes a chapter on Lilly Reich’s furniture designs an area of little scholarly research. This is the English language version!
