This Big Jim Sports Camper-Boat set from 1971 Complete in original box with vintage instructions and two Big Jim dolls with extra clothes, shoes and talking back pack . Which is a pretty awesome find and a perfect addition to any collector's stash. Most collectors have never even heard of Big Jim dolls thats how rare and collectible it is . In 1971 Mattel was competing with G.I. Joe, and other companies like Ideal and Hasbro. Big Jim adventure action figures and toy sets were Mattel’s way of competing with other markets at the time.Since I was a young women at the time I can remember my brother having this set and playing with it constantly and really having fun with it. I remember the 70’s we’re an incredible time with a big upsurge of camping, bodybuilding and a zest for outdoor adventure , that still carries over to present day! Mattel wanted their toys to represent what was

going on in Society at the time and this was their way of bringing new exciting toys to the market . There was a lot of competition from HASBRO with their G.I. Joe action figure dolls, so this was MATTEL’S way of competing.

This set features a boat measuring 15X6X2 and a camper measuring 17X12X8 inches. It’s complete and everything is functional even a extra talking rescue backpack with a pull string that says many phrases and can signal for help if your in danger in the wilderness!!

This set is complete! And very rare because not many were sold and even less have survived after 52 years with their original box and all accessories!! They were not sold with Big Jim dolls ,the dolls had to be purchased separately. So the two Big Jim dolls with their outfits are very hard to find and super rare! I’m including them as extras to complete this vintage set! The set is for the most part in very good used condition. The boat has a crack and the box is not perfect but pretty darn awesome for a rare 70’s set. I want to say the set is substantial and would make a really cool 70’s diorama but you need space because the camper is 17”x12”x8” with 9” dolls and a lot of accessories.
