A unique Pre-Columbian Peruvian Chimu Arumbaya wood carved statue. The Chimu culture 1100-1400 was centered on Chimor with the capital city of Chan Chan, in the Moche Valley of present-day Trujillo, Peru. The Chimu practiced a Polytheistic religion with the Moon god as the supreme deity. The statue depicts a priest or high ranking tribal member with one leg and hand in an extended position. It is intricately carved in a tribal design and upon examination the wood appears to be entirely painted with marks found on a tiger or leopard.
