Core chip A4988 introduction:

The A4988 is a DMOS microstepping driver with converter and overcurrent protection that operates bipolar stepper motors in full, half, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 stepping modes, with output drive performance up to 35 V and ±2. The A4988 includes a fixed off-time current regulator that operates in slow or mixed decay modes. The converter is the key to the A4988's ease of implementation. The motor can be driven to produce microsteps with a single pulse on the "step" input. There is no need for phase sequence tables, high frequency control lines, or complex interface programming, and the A4988 interface is ideal for complex applications where the microprocessor is not available or is overloaded.

A4988 features the following points:
