Use this lighted NEMA 5-15R connector to replace AC receptacles on extension cords or it’s a start to making your own whatever length you want. Never have to worry if your extension cord is good, or the AC outlet you’re plugging into is hot since the light in the receptacle shows you have power. There’s nothing more frustrating than thinking your equipment has a problem, and the last thing you check is your extension cord or the wall outlet. If you make your own lighted extension cord you’ll save time and money knowing that all you have to do is reset a breaker or fix a loose wire.

The connector’s color-coded screw terminals make it easy to install and the cable entry clamp keeps it all securely in place. Make sure the first thing you do is slide the outer clear shell onto the cable. Strip off 1-1/4" of the jacket. Then strip the individual conductors 1/5", insert the wire into the correct terminals, and screw them down. The bronze screw is for the black hot wire, the silver-colored screw is for the white neutral wire and the green screw is for the ground wire. Screw the AC plug into the clear outer shell and use the black screw down clamps to secure the outer jacket into the shell. The clamp’s design holds 18 to 12 AWG 3-conductor round AC cable.
