Vintage Standard Oil of Southern CaliforniaCHEVRON White Gasoline Wooden Crate
Picked this up at an estate sale of an avid collector of automobilia and vintage aircraft memoribiliaThis is a vintage wooden crate that originally would have held 2 five gallon cans of fuel (White Gasoline according to the labeling)Crate is labeled on each end.....graphics are good considering the age and use of an item of this naturePlenty of signs of wear....scuffs, scrapes, dings, dents, stains......all of which I would expect on an original piece like thisCrate is fully intact...no loose boards or sections measures 21.25" long, 10.5" wide, and 15" tall(I have 3 of these crates....this one, one that is labeled for Aviation Gasoline, and one labeled for Pressure Appliance Fuel)(I will be listing the other 2 at some point as well)As far as attempting to date this crate......well.....the Standard Oil Company of California (SOCAL) was formed in 1926 and was the parent company ofwhat would later become CHEVRON.  In 1977, Standard Oil Co of California formed CHEVRON U.S.A. and eventuallyin 1984 changed the company name to the CHEVRON CORPORATIONNote.....Unleaded gasoline was introduced in the 1970s and this is labeled towards the bottom UNLEADEDFrom the branding on this crate....I would guess this is probably from the late 1970s(It still has the Standard Oil Company of California branding and the Chevron Labeling in the logo)I wish it didn't cost so much to ship but there is no way around the size of the crate and I want it protected in transit
