Advertising
poster to promote tourism in Normandy, especially in Pont-Audemer
considered as the little Norman Venice.
The
Auberge du Vieux Pui is represented on this poster with its
half-timbered frontage. The establishment run by Albert Foltz and
Jacques Foltz from 1934 to 2001 was well known far beyond
Pont-Audemer, Normandy and even beyond the country's borders.
Formerly a star-studded establishment frequented by businessmen
and artists alike, the Auberge was a place with unusual walls,
furniture, decoration and ambience.

Hallo (1882-1969), aka ALO is a painter, draftsman, illustrator,
engraver and photographer.
His
favorite themes are landscapes (tourist sites) and animals
(hunting scenes) but his involvement in aviation has led him to
also produce advertising gouaches representing aircraft published
in L'Aérophile.
