Here is a lovely example of a traditional chair from the Hitchcock Chair Co. in Riverton, Ct. The Hitchcock Co. dates back to the 1820s and has a solid reputation for high quality furniture that is both hand turned and hand assembled. The original chairs were created with hardwoods that had stencils and traditional paint colors. The furniture has both a touch of Sheraton and Empire features as well as a very American Colonial feel. I've been to their store in Riverton many times and if you're not familiar with them you should take the time to read about their fascinating history. This chair has a few small issues but still has a wonderful look and is quite graceful in its design. The chair is truly a fine example of American furniture history. Also I have another listing for a pair of Hitchcock chairs if you're interested. Thanks for looking.
