19th Century James Dudson Cheese Stand or Cheese Dome – C. 1875

Antique Jasperware Cheese Stand (or Cheese Bell, Dome, Keeper, or Cloche) by James Dudson, Staffordshire England. Domed cover & round underplate, in a Mid Brown slip, white sprigged decoration of Classical Muses, Scroll dividers, with an Oak leaf & Acorn top border and a Grapevine plate border, 2 sets of 4 ventilation holes. The dome is finished with an Acorn Cup Finial & a glazed interior. Unmarked Dudson piece, the factory didn’t start back stamping their pottery until after 1880.

Condition: Good Antique condition. No visible evidence of major damage or repair. You may notice slight age-related surface scratching, manufacturing faults or wear. Tiny amount of missing surface/glaze to section of top of underplate, similarly to the side of dome, pictured. Mid Brown Colour which Dudson lists as Brown, sprigged decoration is in an off/warm white. High resolution images are part of the condition report, please view closely.
