This is a very large, in very good condition, 19th century writing/lap desk.  It has the original key, and the lock does work, though the lid has warped just enough over the last nearly 200 years that the lock just barely does not engage the hasp.

Secret compartment cover works great. The drawers are all there and work. With its age, there are some cracks in the wood which should be totally expected. All the brass is present with very minor lifting on some pieces, and the worst example is in the pics.

I have tried to include pics showing all aspects if it's condition. It is a great example of a Victorian standard item.
