A rare Victorian Tunbridge Ware alphabet combination sovereign box. Mid 19th century, one example is in the Birmingham City Art Gallery and Museum. The box is 4 cm tall, 4.6 cm across the top and has four movable rings, which presumably lock into place. The pot weighs 44.6 gm. There is loss to the applied paper alphabet and one tiny tessera piece missing from the top. Inside the pot someone has pencilled 'Venice.'  A wonderful and rare example of Tunbridge ware. One sold at Wooley and Wallis auctioneers in October for £2000.
