Welcome to Milkweed Antiques.

One thing about Lehmann tin litho toys is they are well marked. As it states on the bottom of this sailor's feet "Engl Patents - Lehmann's - D.R. Patente company mark MA - R - K" and on the other foot "Pat. U.S.A. - 12 - Mai - 03 - Made in - Germany - BTE - G(?). G. D. G. and on the heel the company mark D.R.G.M. an early copyright mark from Germany". On the top of the sailor's hat is a partial label that states "Hamilton ? - New York - July 19 ?". Also on the front of his hat is "Mars" the division he was from. This sailor is wearing a woven cotton sailor suit. It is dark blue. It has a white or light gray collar. There are printed or painted buttons on the front of his shirt. His shoes are tin and black. His hat is also tin and has a dark blue ribbon hanging down in the back.  The sailor has his permanent windup key on his back that is hidden under his shirt. This key is in an indent in the tin and it states "Lehmann". This sailor is 7-1/2" tall x 2-1/2" wide x approximately 2-1/2" deep. This toy was made from 1904-1948. The Lehmann pieces are getting harder to find!! As you can see from the video he still works quite well.

This toy was used a lot through the years. His suit is faded and the buttons are worn. There are a couple of holes in the lightweight cotton on the back from the tin. The blue color on the tin is very scratched in the indent where the windup key is installed. The collar is raveled a bit. It was unfinished originally. As I mentioned above, the label on his hat is partial. Please see my pictures. They help with the description. My price reflects the issues.
