These are true vintage, B&L Bausch & Lomb Ray Ban USA Black Leather Outdoorsman 62mm aviator sunglasses, circa 1970's, in MINT to NEAR MINT condition. New old stock NOS and unworn. Unisex.

G31 DGM GREY DOUBLE GRADIENT MIRROR LENSES: Superior protection against overhead and reflected glare. A good choice for water and snow sports. 4% VLT* top and bottom. 23% at the center.

* VLT (visible light transmission) represents the wavelengths 400nm to 760nm. For example, a lens with 15% VLT will absorb 85% of the visible light (or glare) reaching the lens.

G31 DGM glass lenses with double gradient silver chrome mirror finish are in pristine condition and free of scratches. Hairline scratches to lenses and/or frame are possible from storage and cleaning but none of note were observed. Lenses are pre-B&L etching and are non-prescription. 100% UV protection.

Dark neutral grey/green like the standard G15 lens that has the mirror coating concentrated on the top and bottom and a darkened area running horizontally in the center of the lenses. Not your average solid mirrored finish! Perfect for sunniest weather conditions.

Shiny sliver chrome plated frame is in excellent condition, has a glossy shine, and is symmetrical. No tarnishing or oxidation. Frame rims are covered in smooth black genuine leather. Also in excellent condition. Temple ends and general brow bar are leather too. Contrast off white stitching. No plastic or metal parts digging into your head makes this model insanely comfortable and highly sought after.

Top of brow bar reads B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A. Underside reads B&L 62 [] 14 USA. Temples are straight and the fit is secure. Screws are removable and have been replaced with NOS screws to ensure they last you another 50+ years.

These are just an incredibly rare find. Impossible to get a hold of at all much less in this condition. Gold frames are overwhelmingly more common. You will find hundreds of vintage B&L Ray Ban aviators with gold frames for every pair with silver frames. Also much harder to find DGM lenses.

These should go to someone who appreciates fine luxury items, quality, and the brand’s heritage, a true collector, fashionista, or stylist to be loved for decades to come!

Fit:

I recommend a custom fitting with an optician, optometrist, or other equivalent. The temples can be heated up to provide you with an optimal, customized fit. Lenses can also be replaced with prescription lenses. Do not attempt to make adjustments on your own! If done improperly you can cause irreparable damage. I don’t take returns and especially cannot be of assistance if any adjustments (professional or otherwise) have been made or attempted.

Cleaning and Care:

I recommend using a hard or semi-hard case for storage and optimal protection. Rinse glasses with cool water if they become dusty and allow them to dry before cleaning with a soft microfiber cloth and lens cleaner. Never clean with a dry cloth alone. Do not leave sunglasses in direct sunlight and/or extreme temperatures for extended periods of time, such as a car glovebox. Hinges and emblems may be polished with a silver polishing cloth. They may be lubricated with WD-40 if needed.

Condition:

These are vintage sunglasses and my family has been the only owner. They are not perfect. Do not expect perfection or you will be disappointed. They are 50+ years old. They have never been worn. You should still have a proper fitting by an eye specialist. Condition is subjective and based on my personal expertise, but is still an opinion nonetheless. Evaluation of condition takes into consideration the condition of a given pair relative to others of the same or similar model, from the same time period and brand.

Please also note that there may be glare and reflection spots in the photos. Photos taken indoors in natural sunlight and/or under white ring light. Colors may differ slightly in real life due to differences in device/monitor settings and lighting conditions.
