Here we have a rare small, sanded pitcher dating to the 1800s.  These sanded pitchers were popular in England during the early to mid-1800s and were made in a wide variety of sizes, band combinations, sand colors and textures, as well as spout and handle design and molded decorations around the rim.  This has an applied reeded strap handle, white sand decoration, white glazed interior and a delicate round raised foot.  This little beauty measures 2 ½” to the rim and is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs.  A similar pitcher is shown in Lisa McAllister’s Collector’s Guide to Yellow Ware Book II on page 118.
