This kit will also accomplish the M50 amplifier, with a few spare capacitors unused. The same fire hazard for the M50 applies and is fixed exactly the same way. This kit is available for a limited time while capacitors are still available.

By popular request, I am now listing a M70 Recap kit. This kit is very similar to the MX1000 Kit, but is for the M70 amplifier. The big four main rear caps are not included. Those caps if one can find a suitable replacement would probably be around 300.00. Good thing these larger capacitors are well overbuilt for these units, and should last a long long time yet. The best way to replace these when necessary is to leave them intact, carefully gut them out, and put a replacement capacitor underneath the existing casing. This way caps can

be used that are slightly smaller while preserving the original look.

Separate bags will contain the capacitors for each amplifier board section for easier identification. The capacitors numerical location is included below. No need for technical service manuals. Just replace each cap, value for value. There are 40 capacitors total.

All 6.3 volt caps employed by Yamaha, have been replaced with higher 10 volt capacitors in this Yamaha M70 Kit. Low voltage caps are even more prone to failure and as such voltage has been increased. No blame to Yamaha, the 6.3 volt caps they used have lasted many years, just they have proven to be, the first to go after so many years of use, so may was well up the quality here.

I imagine Yamaha never planned on 30 years use:)))

C105 to C152 Nichicon Muse Fine Gold and Muse ES

C501 to C513 Nichcon FW and Nichicon KA

C600 to C607 Nichicon Muse Fine Gold.

C701 to C 706 Nichicon Muse ES and UCC KYB

C909 to C 930 Nichicon Muse Fine Gold.

All capacitors come in separate bags, making it easier to identify and install on each board.

As in the MX 1000 Top quality UCC KYB 105C 10000hr load life main secondary capacitors and top quality Nichicon Muse ES BP, MUSE FINE GOLD, NIchicon FW etc. UCC KYB's are United Chemi Cons newest power supply specialty capacitors, and are made with UCC's newest modified electrolytic for ultra low ESR. Low esr means less resistance, and less capacitor internal self heating. An excellent choice for the two bigger can's. NIchicon FINE GOLD round off this Kit for supreme quality sound. Fine gold capacitors are used in the two best Pc sound cards on the market, the Asus Xonar STX, and it's newest copycat, the Soundblaster ZXR. I own two of the STX cards, which pretty much sold me on how good Nichicon FINE GOLD, caps are, as these cards are completely flooded with FINE GOLD caps. I recapped two Yamaha MX 800's with them and they were just AWESOME!.

NOTE IMPORTANT. The Yamaha M70, has a defect / fire hazard / Accident waiting to happen/. Although this is an electrolytic recap kit, that most would use to replace the usual aging capacitor, to avoid problems, there is ONE MYLAR capacitor that is a huge issue.. As such I am now including this Mylar Capacitor in the kit. This is the Mylar film capacitor right beside the Single Glass Buss fuse inside the Yamaha M70, located on control board C, and identified as capacitor 607. If you have this amplifier, even if you do not wish to do a total recap. You should be buying and replacing this single Mylar Capacitor

ASAP. This capacitor is currently blowing up and spreading OIL throughout the amplifier, as well as in some cases, smoking and burning a foul smell, as well as in some cases, actually catching fire.

Do not forget to remove all the bonding glue on these particular amplifiers when doing your recap, as it is a corrosion problem. The MX series the glue can be left alone. The M70"s main glue problem is on the

the secondary power supply board containing the two 100v 1000uf capacitors.

The recapping of old electronics is usually done to preserve and extend the life of the component while at the same

time preventing possible cascading damage due to inevitable capacitor failure due to aging. Small capacitors tend to

go well before the larger one's do. These kits save time digging in amplifiers to find what you need, and save the

cost of service manuals needed to find what parts may be needed.
