This is a 19th century old west style cow horn whiskey shot cup with a glass bottom. I have heard explanations on why these had glass bottoms, but I do not remember them. Any legit info would be appreciated.

In perfect condition with no chips and no cracks in the glass. Rubbed smooth by apparent years of use. Great grain pattern in the horn. Notice the bulge around the base where the horn has molded itself around the glass bottom.
