This is a colorful, beautiful Vintage 60s Wooden Hand Carved & Hand Painted Sri Lankan Maru Raksha Mask / Wall Hanging. Often mistaken for a devil, this traditional Sri Lankan handmade wooden mask is of “Maru Raksha”- the demon of death - who is believed to decide on the life and death of an individual. People believe that by invoking the blessings on the Maru Raksha, death can be delayed. “Raksha” means demon. The masks are believed to ward off evil and to protect and guard against an evil spirit / demon.

The mask measures about 4.25” tall by 6.5” long by 1.65” wide. It is meant to be hung on a wall or can sit on a mantel, desk, nightstand, bookshelf etc. Beautiful colors and workmanship. See pictures for details. Packaged carefully and shipped with tracking.
