The Allen-Bradley 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module is a DC-powered digital input module that has been designed for the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 series PLC systems. The 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module provides 16 non-isolated sinking inputs in a single group and with a common to each input point. This module is rated at 24 Volts DC with an acceptable input range of 10 to 30 Volts DC (sink) and a maximum backplane current draw of 0.085 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module has an off-state current rating of 1 milliamp and a maximum off-state voltage of 5 Volts DC. Each of the 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module’s input points has a nominal current rating of 8 milliamps at 24 Volts DC and each input has a maximum signal delay time of 8 milliseconds for the on or off states.
 

The 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module, like all 4-point, 8-point, 12-point, and 16-point SLC 500 digital I/O modules, comes with self-lifting pressure plates that are capable of accepting 14 AWG size conductors. The 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module comes with a color-coded removable terminal block (RTB) that provides a simplified wiring base and allows for easy removal and insertion of I/O modules without rewiring. The 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module also features optical isolation between the input and backplane, surge protection, and an input filtering capability for enhanced and reliable operation in a noisy industrial environment. The 1746-IB16 Discrete Input Module is UL 508 listed and CSA 22.2 142 approved, and it is designed to meet Class I, Division 2 hazardous location requirements. It comes with 16 individually-numbered LEDs that indicate the input channel status, and underneath the module is a terminal identification diagram.
