Brand New. Never Used. Never unfolded (except to be photographed here.) Original packaging and tags included.

• Item’s Background - Never Used. I am the original owner. Originally acquired for a planned party that never materialized.

• Working Condition – Excellent. This item is fully functional and performs exactly as originally intended.  Should last for many seasons and many nice parties.

• Cosmetic Condition – Never Used. Shows well. Nicely Hemmed (See Pic.)

            • Bottom Line - This is a seasonal closet treasure. The historic Red Stewart pattern has been loved, used for centuries, and it has a history. It's a Christmas Classic.

II. DESCRIPTION

Manufacturer – Not known, presumed to be of relatively recent India manufacture. Dobby (or Dobbie) fabric is a woven fabric produced on a dobie loom characterized by small geometric patterns and extra texture in the cloth. Great for Wool and Cotton bedding.

            • Loom Historical Note - The word Dobby (or Dobbie) is a slang corruption of "draw boy," which refers to the weaver's helpers who used to control the warp thread by pulling on draw threads.  Dobby looms first appeared around 1843, roughly 40 years after the invention of the Jacquard loom and can be mounted atop a loom to lift the individual heddles and warp (length) threads (For a view of a Dobby Loom from the 1890s with a dobby head, see pics). -per Wikipedia

    • Tartan Historical Note - Dress tartans are usually special tartans for formal dress occasions. The Dress Stewart is distinct from the main Royal, the Hunting, the Mourning, and the Dance Stewart tartans. -per Wikipedia
