Unique, utterly captivating illustration style was created by English author/ artist Chloe Preston in the Edwardian era.

Characterized by her trademark, saucer-eyed " chubbies," Preston (1887-1969) presents a buoyant, shiny universe filled with children, animals and nature -a happy place where even policemen appear squishy and cheerful.

Preston's art mainly derives from her extensive catalog of children's' books and postcards.

Although the work has been reproduced in modern and contemporary times, these specific prints are documented on the backs as having been printed around 1900, in London.

Both 16x 16 1/2" prints are professionally framed in deeply gilded wood bordered with a burgundy stripe. They are matted in ivory. with a tasteful green border. Secure hanging wires are attached.

Prints and frames are in excellent to very good antique condition.

We see some expected dings on the framing, as shown, and I find a tiny tear in one corner of one print, also documented in photos.

Rare, authentic antique prints by a beloved artist will add winsome charm to your nursery, playroom or family room.

Framed pair ships USPS Ground from Los Angeles.

*** I have included an artist's portrait in the photos.
