Misconceptions about Authentic Oakley Sunglasses - Must Read
There are many false statements about Oakley sunglasses that circulate the Internet. Make sure to read all of these. If you disagree with any of these points, you should not buy these glasses, as there are no returns.
1. All Oakleys are made in USA, true or false? This is absolutely false. While some older Oakleys were made in USA, many of today’s contemporary Oakleys are NOT made in USA. Today’s Oakleys are sometimes made in USA, assembled in USA, made in China, or made in Italy. Additionally, many Oakleys do not have the country of origin printed on them at all. In addition to the uncertainty of the origin of various Oakley models, some models are not even marked consistently. For example, some Straightlinks have a “USA ASSEMBLED” badge applied to them, and some do not.
2. All Oakleys have the model name printed on the inner temple (arm), true or false? This is absolutely false. Some Oakley models have the model name printed on the inner temple, like “METAL PLATE”, some Oakleys have the model name molded into the temple, like “MONSTER DOG” or “GASCAN”, and some Oakleys have no model name printed or molded on the temple.
3. All Oakleys have the model number printed on the temple, true or false? This is absolutely false. Sometimes the model number is printed, and sometimes it is not.
4. Oakley RX frames fall in line with the same inconsistencies as we find in Oakley sunglasses. The markings on RX frames can be complete, including model names, model numbers, frame color, and sizes. Some authentic Oakley RX frames have no markings at all. Additionally, RX frames can have just some of the information mentioned. For example, an E-Wire RX frame only has the OAKLEY logo molded into the nose bridge, and top of the Temples (arms), no other information. Conversely, the O1 RX frame has the size, color, model number, and model name all printed on the frame. The Square Wire 2.0 RX frame has no information, other than “OAKLEY” molded into the nose bridge, “O” molded onto each corner of the frame, and “CE” printed on the temple (stands for Conformitè Europëenne, a European mark).
5. With respect to markings and origin of Oakley sunglasses, the only certainty is that Oakley does NOT mark all of their glasses consistently, and Oakley has their glasses made in multiple countries around the world.
Finally, I only sell 100% authentic Oakley products. When the lenses are made by another company, it is clearly stated.
