Vintage Telechron Sears Roebuck
Tube Wire Recorder Microphone, Bag + Extras
Model 8176
101 779-1
This may very well be the first consumer grade
recording device designed to time-shift broadcasts.
For quite some time I've looked around on
the web and into other sources and I cannot find any consumer
based equipment prior to this type of recording device that
was equipped with a timer.
The problem was that in 1947 when these were
being manufactured, television was coming into its own .
Also, the cost of this system was rather pricey and only about
500 of these consoles were ever sold.
Condition
I'm sure this needs service before it goes into a working environment so you must be comfortable working with wire recorders, Has some minor wear wear from the years of use and storage. I could adjust the sound, turn it on and off and it would spin. I think theirs a bulb above the clock and i couldn't get it to turn on. The Play, Rewind and stop buttons work, The recording was not tested, since I'm not sure how to use it. The bag has a broken handle. Please look through the pictures to see the condition of the Lot and whats included.
