Edward Martin has had a lifelong love of gun

dogs and shooting, training his first dog on

the family farm as a teenager. He has

successfully competed in trials for many

years with a number of field trial champions

to his name. In 1993, training Shooting Times

dog Monty for a series of articles in the

magazine highlighted Edward’s approach to

training and a huge following ensued.

Adapting the training to the individual temperament of the dog shows how

all dogs can be trained to their individual highest standards. In this

programme we continue the training from 10

months to adult. Continuing stage-by-stage

training, devoloping walking on & off lead,

quartering, whistle and hand commands,

introduction to jumps, shot, dummy retrieves

seen and unseen, cold game, water and live

stock. Covering all the training ready for a

working life. Concluding the training into the

field with a days walk-up shooting and finally

picking-up.
