** Rare One-Of-A-Kind **

Stunning pair of porcelain enamel cloisonne vases signed with a six-character Chenghua mark with a double square!!

These beautiful porcelain vases are very unique because of the silver and/or gold cloisonne wire in the porcelain. Such mastery of craftsmanship is mainly reserfed for the Emperors Imperial kiln. Each vase is consistent with the Ming dynasty which is known for using cobalt blue and a six-character Chenghua mark inscribed within a double square. The Chenghua reign lasted from 1465-1487. During the Ming Dynasty there was no access to local cobalt therefore the Ming Imperial court imported its cobalt from either the Middle East or Egypt. When the Ming court attempted to produce the cobalt it was very rich in magnesia and very low in iron which caused the color of the cobalt to appear dark purple or black. It is very rare to find enameled porcelain with cloisonne  silver wire especially with a solid blue background. One of the main aspects of Ming porcelain is that the porcelain can easily be identified by its purple-ish / black pigment which cannot be reproduced with modern technology today. If you compare most Ming porcelain you will rarely find pieces for sale with purple-ish, dark blue or black pigment because it very difficult if not impossible to reproduce today. Each vase weighs approximately 3 pounds and measures approximately 10.5 inches in height and 5.5 inches in diameter. I have checked online and could not find anything similar to these vases that included enameled cloisonne porcelain that was intricately done with wire on porcelain.
