Luhansk Border Guard Detachment

The unique postage stamp "Luhansk Border Guard Detachment"
dedicated to the anniversary of the foundation of the unit.

The event took place with the participation of the representative of Ukrposhta, the commander of the detachment, Colonel Oleksandr Osypets, and the commander of the "Volyn" operational group, Major General Volodymyr Myronyuk, who was invited to the event.

The image for the stamp was created by Ukrainian artist Beata Kurkul, known for numerous drawings of Ukrainian border guards and military personnel of the Defense Forces. The artist generated the basis for the sketch using a neural network that converts written text into images.

"First of all, the point from which I started is the chevron of the Luhansk Phoenix detachment. I thought that it is possible to combine him and the border guard. She made a request to the neural network and together with the head of the detachment's press service, they chose several options. I took several fragments from several sketches, combined and finished drawing them," says Beata.

The total number of issued stamps is 56.
Volunteers and public figures who provide assistance to our detachment will receive them as gifts.

And here are some facts from the history of the Luhansk detachment:

The unit was created on October 20, 1992.

The combat path of the unit began on June 2, 2014, when border guards fought with separatists and Russian mercenaries for the border post in Luhansk.

By decree of the President of Ukraine, the unit was awarded the honorary name "in the name of the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Yevgeny Pikus."

Master Sergeant Denys Tkach was the first border guard to die in the full-scale war of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. He died around 03:30 on the night of February 24, 2022, during a battle with a subversive and intelligence group at the Milove border service department.

Luhansk border guards took part in battles along the entire eastern part of the front: Rubizhne, Kreminna, Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Popasna, Siversk, Fedorivka, Sviatohirsk, Bakhmut.

268 border guards of the Luhansk detachment were awarded state awards.

5 servicemen of the border detachment were honored with the honorary title of Hero of Ukraine with the awarding of the "Golden Star" order, 4 of them posthumously.
