Offered is this vintage white scalloped-edge porcelain china plate, made by Alfred Meakin of Staffordshire, England. The plate is #18 in the "Birds of America" series, featuring a Bewick's Wren sitting on a branch with leaves, reproduced from the "Elephant Folio" Audubon work. The painted birds and flowers are surrounded by a raised band of leaves and flowers. I don't know exactly how old the plate is but the back mark indicates it was made some time after 1945. The company ceased production in 1976.

The plate is approx. 8 7/8" in diameter. It is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. The painted birds and flowers have almost no wear.
