Silver Bullion “New Gate”
The new gate in the walls of Jerusalem was breached in 1889 by the Ottoman authorities. This is the newest of the gates in the walls and it was built at the highest point. It facilitated the transition between the public and residential buildings in the Christian quarter inside the walls and those outside the walls of the Old City. The new gate does not have a gate house or special architectural components like the other gates decorated with artistic elements.
Inside: the new cover, inscriptions in Hebrew and English, “The new cover”, in gold – “1 ounce of pure gold 9999.” and the year of minting, in silver – 1 ounce of pure silver 999.”
Reverse common to the series: a stylized diagram of the gates of the Old City and the walls of Jerusalem, the inscription in Hebrew and English, “Gates of Jerusalem” and the symbol of the company mint.
