A wooden construction titled Quail Cabinet by The Yorkshire artist and craftsman Robert Lee - Robert H Lee - who died in 2007. Contains eggs and butterflies. Measures approx 28" by 16" and is constructed from different types of wood. Dated 88 for 1988. Two of the eggs need replacing. One egg is signed Lee 88. I have more works by Robert Lee for sale on ebay. 

Robert Henry Lee was born in 1915 in Bingley, West Yorkshire and attended The Royal College of Art where he was tutored by John Nash, Edward Bawden, Vivien Pitchforth and Percy Horton. In 1940 he was called into The Royal Artillery Signals. He took part in The Western Desert Campaign, North Africa and was taken prisoner in Gazala Line. He was transferred to Italy Prisoner of War Camp - POW - at Altamura and Fermo. In 1943 he was transferred to Germany, Stalag IV B and then to Freital working camp, a suburb of Dresden. 

He returned to The Royal College of Art in 1946. He taught part time at Hammersmith College of Art. In 1947 he returned to Yorkshire as art master at Heckmondwike Grammar School. In 1949 he moved to Batley School of Art - later Dewsbury and Batley Technical and art College - where he became deputy head in 1957. In 1969 he moved to Bingley College of Education. From 1980 to 1983 he was a visiting lecturer at Huddersfield Polytechnic, Bretton College and Bradford and Ilkley College. From 1980 to 2005 he worked as an artist and craftsman. Probably his most famous work is An Angel for Dresden which is hung in The Frauenkirche and was created in memory of the suffering of the people in WWII. He was awarded a medal of honour by the people of Dresden for his gift of The Angel.

His art works and other works are held in many collections including Kirklees Museums and Galleries, The Second World War Experience Centre, Horsforth, Leeds and private collections worldwide. The Tate Gallery, London purchased a work in 1991 for their Contemporary Crafts Collection.
