The Carfone 150 was a two way FM radio made by RCA in the 1950's, approximately 1954-59 to be precise. The 150 is a VHF high band (150-174 MHz) radio while the Carfone 50 is a low band (30-50 MHz) model. The Carfone 150 came in a number of power levels, most were dynamotor powered on transmit and vibrator powered on receive.

The physical construction consists of three strip-chassis inside a rugged steel case, with a locking t-handle. The three chassis are: power supply, transmtter and receiver. Crystal controlled, most were single channel but some were two channel. There is of course a separate control head with speaker and mike all cabled to the "drawer" which mounts in the car trunk. There was also a "front mount" option to allow the entire monster to fit in the passenger compartment, such as in a cement mixer truck.

They were used by police departments, businesses, taxis, plumbers, almost any user of two way radio. There was a later modification to change the power supply over to transistor power and get rid of the dynamotor and vibrator.

The transmitter uses either one or two 6146's
